Valley Village

Valley Village is a quaint neighborhood just north of Studio City, tucked in-between Sherman Oaks and North Hollywood in the San Fernando Valley. With its main intersection being Laurel Canyon Blvd and Riverside Dr, Valley Village is more than just a pass through area. With the charming Valley Village Park that runs adjacent to the 170 Freeway and Magnolia Ave, residents have a beautiful green space to call their own. Also home to the top rated Colfax Charter Elementary School, which makes Valley Village a desirable area for families. Valley Village offers close freeway access, proximity to many nearby amenities, and picturesque streets, Valley Village is home to over 24,000 residents.

Brief History

Valley Village officially separated from North Hollywood in 1991, but has had its own neighborhood identity since the 1930’s when homes were built in the area to house local film studio employees. Valley Village was also home to screen legend Marilyn Monroe for a brief stint in the 1940’s at the age of 17.

Neighborhoods and Real Estate

With home prices rising over the years in Studio City, buyers moved north to Valley Village looking for more affordable single family home and condo/townhouse alternatives. With Colfax Charter Elementary in its district, Valley Village became a desirable area that offers similar attributes as its neighbor to the south. With the majority of condos and townhouses running along Riverside Dr, Magnolia Blvd and Chandler Blvd, inner streets are filled with quaint single family homes and many above average sized lots. Valley Village doesn’t have any sub-neighborhoods, but can be divided between east or west Laurel Canyon Blvd. Each area offering something a little different. Picturesque tree lined streets can be found closer to Valley Village Park to the east. Marie et Cie offers residents a special hideaway along busy Riverside Drive. On the west side of Laurel residents have many walkable options up to Magnolia Blvd or shops along Laurel, with some streets such as La Maida St and Huston St gaining a slight elevation as you move west towards Whitsett Ave.
